1868 “Dajokan-satsu,” the first national banknotes issued by the Meiji government, printed by Saijiro Ishida (great-grandfather of the current chairman) together with Rokuzan Matsuda at GENGENDO.
1868 Copper-plate engraving (etching) business launched using the name “Ishida Kyokuzan.”
1873 Japan’s first compilation English-language travel brochure, “Kyoto Guide” for Kyoto Exhibition. Large orders for brochures, guidebooks and other handbooks with delicate illustrations are printed from engraved copper plates.
1887 Lithographic press installed. Mass color printing system established using lithography. MURAI BROTHERS cigarette packages and cotton sewing thread labels, seals, catalogs, wrapping paper, business cards, picture postcards, etc., are printed.
1918 Patent obtained for the Ishida-type film plate “transparent film letterpress for lithographic transfer,” which becomes a blockbuster product that expands sales beyond the domestic market.
1924 Offset press introduced.
1930 ISHIDA KYOKUZAN PRINTING WORKS founded as a general partnership company.
1934 Reorganized ISHIDA KYOKUZAN PRINTING WORKS into ISHIDA KYOKUZAN PRINTING CO., LTD. Patent obtained for glass screen “photoengraving halftone screen corrosion engraving method” (to convert photos to halftone dots).
1937 DAINIPPON SCREEN MFG. WORKS established within the company as a separate business from regular printing business.
1943 DAINIPPON SCREEN MFG. WORKS spun off and incorporated, and DAINIPPON SCREEN MFG. CO., LTD., founded.
1964 Headquarters relocated from Matsubara Takatsuji to Horikawa Ichijo.
1969 “Kyoto Prefecture 100 Year Old Firm Commemoration” awarded by Kyoto Prefecture governor. Osaka sales office opened.
1970 Company name changed to SHASHIN KAGAKU CO., LTD., upon merger with JAPAN R&D CO., LTD.
1971 Headquarters building and factory completed. Tokyo sales office opened. SHASHIN KOGYO CO., LTD., established for the purpose of developing, manufacturing and selling printmaking peripheral equipment.
1974 FREEDOM CO., LTD., established as a design company.
1978 As a building coating materials business, a wall surface material HORICOLOR, made of metallic color stainless steel plate developed.
1979 SUN AGENCY CO., LTD., established as an insurance agency.
1981 Kumiyama factory established by SHASHIN KAGAKU CO., LTD., and SHASHIN KOGYO CO., LTD.
1982 New coating line established at Yodo factory for verdigris processing in the building coating materials business, has attracted attention for its use as roof materials for shrines, temples, public facilities, and other buildings.
1986 New SHASHIN KAGAKU started upon merger with SHASHIN KOGYO CO., LTD.
1988 New factory constructed within the Kumiyama factory for the electronic business to manufacture large photomasks using the world’s first large electron beam device.
1991 “Kusatsu business office” for printing business opened based on the concept of a futuristic open factory production base.
1998 FREEDOM CO., LTD., and SUN AGENCY CO., LTD., acquired as subsidiaries.
2001 Fine technology business and circuit board business spun off and incorporated, and SK-ELECTRONICS CO., LTD., founded.
2002 Satellite imagery business spun off as a subsidiary GEOSCIENCE CO., LTD.
2003 Design creative business spun off as a subsidiary UNICREATES CO., LTD.
2004 Headquarters relocated to the current address Karasuma Nijo.
2010 Precision equipment business spun off as a subsidiary SEZACC CO., LTD.
2011 FREEDOM CO., LTD., and UNICREATES CO., LTD., merged and established as PRONEST CO., LTD.
2011 POWDER SYSTEMS CO., LTD., a developer and manufacturer of powder handling devices, acquired as a subsidiary.
2014 Mixer Department and Sales of SEZACC CO., LTD., integrated and established as Product Company.
2015 Businesses of GEOSCIENCE CO., LTD., transferred to Media Company.
2017 PRONEST CO., LTD., integrated into Media Company. SEZACC CO., LTD., integrated into Product Company. SK BRIDGE CO., LTD., established as a sales company of powder-related devices. TECHNOS CO., LTD., a developer and manufacturer of image processing application systems, acquired as a subsidiary.
2018 Product Company’s development section of 3D printers for ceramics spun off and established as SK FINE CO., LTD.
2022 Healthcare Business Division integrated into Product Company.
